According to the National Center for Education Statistics, about 20 percent
of adults cannot read a newspaper. Those adults struggle to find employment,
usually have lower incomes and lower quality jobs, and more stress in their lives.
Fortunately, there are a variety of innovative programs to try to address this
national crisis.
