Community Rules for Postings and Comments

  • You shall not upload to, distribute through or otherwise publish through the Library’s blogs any writings that are libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, threatening, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, illegal or otherwise objectionable that would constitute or encourage a criminal offense, violate the rights of any party or that would otherwise give rise to liability or violate any law.
  • You will not upload or publish writings that promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual, or that could be harmful to minors or that harasses or advocates harassment of another person.
  • You will not impersonate any person or entity, misrepresent any affiliation with another person, entity, or association, use false IP addresses or headers, or otherwise conceal your identity for any purpose.
  • You will only submit writings for which you have the copyright or other specific permission to distribute electronically.
  • You will not violate, plagiarize, or infringe on the rights of third parties including copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, publicity or proprietary rights.

Policy for Writing Postings

Focus and Size

  • The content should clearly be related to the topic of the blog.
  • If you really want to go “off topic,” then clearly explain why to your readers.
  • Aim for posts of 500 to 1,000 words in length.


  • Make posts easy to scan with headings, space between paragraphs and bulleted points,
  • As much as possible, include a bulleted list of links to past posts and related resources.


  • As much as possible, title your posts with, e.g., “How to “ or “Top 10”.
  • It’s useful to repeat the name of the blog in a phrase in the post, so search engines more readily find your post.

Style of Writing

  • Write in the first person – “I’, “you” and “your.”
  • Avoid heavy use of jargon and acronyms.


  • Adhere to the “Community Rules for Postings and Comments”
  • Write about how readers can do something better or what they want to learn about.
  • Consider that you’ll like have a very general audience with highly diverse knowledge, expertise and experience.
  • Remember that what you write will be on the Internet for anyone to read, including your next boss, so be careful about what you write.
  • Please proofread your post for readability, spelling and grammar.
  • End with a question. That cultivates readers’ comments.

Categorizing Postings

  • Blogs let you associate your post with a category. You pick the category. Look at the list of Related Library Topics in the sidebar for ideas to categorize your post.
  • As much as possible, choose a category that is a conventional subtopic of the topic of the blog. If you need help, contact the blog’s host by using the Contact Us link at the bottom of each page.

Ideas of What to Write About

  • See the list of Related Library Topics in the sidebar of each blog. Also see the list of related topics in the About page of each blog.
  • Lists – “Top 10” etc.; things to do; things not to do.
  • How to … readers love “how to” articles.
  • Reviews – review a book, article, process, etc.
  • Link collection – describe and provide links to useful related resources.
  • Tips and tools – about a process related to the topic of the blog.
  • Recommendations – about a resource, process, etc.
  • Interview – someone prominent regarding the blog’s topic.
  • Pose a question – write about a question you’re wondering about, then ask readers to comment.
  • Guest writers – readers often like reading “a different voice.”
  • Answer reader questions – collect some questions that have been posed, and answer them in a posting.
  • Be careful not to be overly self-promotional.

Guest Writer Submissions

  • Many of the Free Management Library’s topics regularly rank in the top 10 of Google search results. You can get wide exposure to you and your work by being a guest writer in the Library’s blogs.
  • We accept guest submissions in regard to the topic of a blog. Share your idea with the blog’s host by using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page.
  • Submissions should be written in accordance with the Policy for Writing Postings.
  • We notify the guest writer of the date of the publishing, as soon as we have scheduled the date. We also inform the guest writer of any changes we propose to the writer’s post.

Copyright Terms of Free Management Library Blogs

  • You will only submit writings for which you have the copyright or other specific permission to distribute electronically.
  • The writer of posts and comments identifies and is responsible to adhere to terms of the copyright for the writer’s submission.
  • However, the writer grants Authenticity Consulting, LLC, the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, world-wide, non-exclusive, transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, translate, distribute, and display the writing (in whole or part) on the Free Management Library’s blogs and/or Free Management Library. The writing will retain citation of the writer’s name and the appropriate terms of copyright.

You would need to commit to publishing a post at least twice a week for at least six months. In return, you would get tremendous visibility to you and your writing.
