Dentist Payment Plans Bad Credit

I’m hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I finally managed to get an appointment to have my teeth worked on, but I don’t have dental insurance. At first, I thought I could get it done at my local dentist with a payment plan, but after looking at my case, they weren’t comfortable going forward since my nerves are wrapped around my jaw. They referred me to another dentist for what was supposed to be an “emergency surgery,” which I thought would mean lower costs.

Unfortunately, the new dentist doesn’t consider it an emergency, so I have to pay the full price upfront. My local dentist believed I’d only be responsible for the anesthesia fee, but instead I’m now looking at a bill of a little over $2,000. Without insurance that’s money I just don’t have sitting around.

To make things worse, I can’t qualify for loans or credit cards because of my past relationship, which left me with bad credit. I also don’t have a cosigner to help. The dental office requires full payment before they’ll do the procedure and they’re the only ones equipped to handle it because of my health issues they need extra staff to monitor me while I’m under.

So here’s my question: does anyone know of any lenders or programs that offer dental loans for people with bad credit and no cosigner? I don’t mind paying higher interest rates if that’s what it takes I just need a way to move forward. The pain has become unbearable, and I’ve exhausted all the options I can think of.

Any advice, leads, or resources would mean the world to me right now.
 
Man, I feel this so hard. I had a root canal last year and the upfront bill almost made me cry. One option you could look into is CareCredit. It’s basically a healthcare credit card, sometimes they approve even if your score isn’t great. Downside is the interest is brutal if you miss a payment, but it’s better than nothing when you’re in pain.
 
Man, I’ve been there. My wisdom teeth extraction cost me around $1,800 out of pocket because my credit score was trash at the time. Some dental offices work with companies like CareCredit or LendingClub, but they usually do a soft pull first and still want you above 600. You might wanna check if your local university has a dental school .... they do surgeries for much cheaper since it’s partly students, supervised by pros.
 
I was in a similar boat a few years back. My dentist quoted me over $3k for an extraction and bone graft, and I had no insurance either. What helped me was going to a local dental school. They had supervised students do the work, and it ended up being less than half the price. It took longer, but the quality was still good. Maybe check if a dental school near you has an oral surgery program.

The catch is you gotta pay it off within the promo period or they slam you with like 26% interest. Maybe check if your dentist works with CareCredit?
