Cake Credit Repair

Has anyone here worked with Cake Credit Repair or heard much about them? I’ve been doing some research on different credit repair companies, and their name came up a few times. From what I understand, they focus on helping people challenge negative items on their credit reports and guide clients through rebuilding their credit.

I know credit repair can be hit or miss depending on the company, and I’m trying to figure out if Cake Credit Repair is the real deal or just another service making big promises without much follow-through. If you’ve used them, did they actually help improve your score or remove negative marks? Were they upfront about fees and timelines, or did you run into any surprises?

Even if you haven’t worked with them specifically, I’d also be interested in general advice on what to watch for when choosing a credit repair company. There seem to be so many options out there, and it’s hard to separate the legit ones from the ones just looking to take advantage of people.

I actually tried Cake Credit Repair last year. They weren’t terrible, but they also weren’t magical. They got a couple of old medical collections removed, which gave me about a 40-point boost. But it took longer than they first said closer to 8 months. Fees were predictable, though, which I appreciated.

My buddy used them after a divorce tanked his credit. He said the communication was solid, but the results weren’t life-changing. A few negatives came off, but not everything he hoped. Honestly, credit repair is always kind of a gamble.

Careful with these companies, man. By law, they can’t charge upfront before doing work (Credit Repair Organizations Act). If anyone tries to get money before results, that’s a red falg. I don’t know Cake specifically, but I’d read their contract closely.

Not sure about Cake, but I’ve used Lexington Law in the past. The thing about credit repair outfits is that they basically send dispute letters you could send yourself for free. The difference is you’re paying for their time and persistence.

I worked with Cake briefly. The one thing I’ll say is they were upfront about their fees—no surprises. They did push me toward their premium plan, though, which I didn’t think was worth it. My score went up, but mostly from paying down balances, not their magic.

Haven’t used them but checked some BBB reviews. Mixed bag: some people saw success, others felt scammed. That’s pretty much the theme across most credit repair companies lol. If you go in expecting a slow grind, you won’t be too disappointed.

I’m skeptical of ALL credit repair. The only legit repair is paying off debt, lowering utilization, and disputing legit errors. These companies sell hope to desperate people. Just my two cents after being burned once.

I get your point, but not everyone has time or patience to send disputes themselves. Some people pay for convenience, just like you’d pay for a tax preparer even though you could file yourself. Cake seems to fall in that bucket.

I used Cake last summer. My rep was super nice, but the results weren’t amazing. They removed a couple of late payments, but the big collection stayed. I did like that they explained how credit scoring works instead of keeping me in the dark.

If you’re considering them, ask them directly what success rate they have with the kind of negatives you’re dealing with (collections, charge-offs, etc.). Some items are harder to get off than others. I’d also see if they’ll do a free consultation.

Honestly, rebuilding credit is like dieting. Everyone wants the quick fix, but the real fix is habits: on-time payments, low balances, no new debt. A company can help, sure, but don’t expect miracles.

Not Cake, but I tried Sky Blue Credit. Similar vibe. Paid $79/month, and they sent disputes for me. I eventually canceled because I realized I could just use free templates online. ?‍♂

I’m in the middle of working with Cake now. Three months in, they’ve knocked off two inaccurate addresses and one old collection. My score went up about 20 points. They’re not fast, but they seem legit so far.

The one thing I liked about them was transparency. They didn’t promise me a 700 overnight. They actually said it might take 6–12 months. That honesty made me trust them more.

I would say watch out for companies that promise to remove anything. If something is accurate, it’s legally harder to get rid of. Cake seemed realistic when I spoke to them didn’t promise the moon.

For context, my wife tried them last year after a bankruptcy. They didn’t touch the BK (as expected), but they cleared some smaller negatives. Her score went from 520 → 590 in 6 months. That was good enough for us to refinance our car.

I didn’t hire Cake, but I used their blog for tips. Honestly, the free advice helped me as much as paid services might have. They talk about utilization ratios, goodwill letters, etc. Stuff you can DIY.
