Best tax software and what do you recommend

Tax season is here, and I’m trying to find the best software to file my taxes online. I’ve used TurboTax before, but the fees can add up fast. I’ve also heard about TaxSlayer, FreeTaxUSA, and i think cash app taxes are any of these worth trying?

What tax software do you use? Any recommendations or ones to avoid?

Freelancers and gig workers avoid TurboTax unless you want to cry over their Self-Employed plan pricing. I switched to TaxSlayer this year, and it’s way cheaper while still handling 1099s.

I totally get the frustration with TurboTax. Every yea i think i’m getting a free return and somehow I end up paying $80. Feels like a scam.

I hear you on TurboTax fees stacking up!
FreeTaxUSA is solid if you’re comfortable doing things yourself and Cash App Taxes is completely free if your situation is simple. TaxSlayer is decent too especially for self employed filers. If you dont need a ton of hand-holding you can definitely save money with these.
whats your tax situation like?

I hear you on those TurboTax fees they sneak up fast! Cash App Taxes is solid if you want completely free filing but FreeTaxUSA is another budget friendly option with good features. If your taxes are simple either one should work great

I’ve used FreeTaxUSA and it’s pretty cheap and easy. Cash App Taxes is completely free if your taxes are simple,so that might be worth a shot too

TurboTax and H&R Block are reliable but can get expensive. If you’re comfortable filing on your own, FreeTaxUSA and TaxSlayer are more budget-friendly alternatives

FreeTaxUSA is solid for cheap federal filing and Cash App Taxes is 100% free if you qualify. TurboTax is easier but pricey. it all depends on your needs

I feel you on those TurboTax fees!
I’ve heard good things about FreeTaxUSA for affordability and Cash App Taxes is totally free, which is a huge plus.
Haven’t tried TaxSlayer but I know some people swear by it. What’s most important for you....cost, ease of use or something else?

I switched from TurboTax to Cash App Taxes last year its totally free and surprisingly easy. Saved me from those sneaky fees. Definitely recommend giving it a shot if your situation is straightforward

I've used FreeTaxUSA for the last 3 years. It’s not flashy but it gets the job done and the price is unbeatable. Federal is free and state is like $15 or something. no upsells every 5 clicks like TurboTax

Tried TaxSlayer once and it gave me anxiety. Interface felt like it was built in 2008 and never updated. i went back to TurboTax the next year even though it’s overpriced. 😩

If your taxes are straightforward (W-2, maybe a 1099-INT), Cash App Taxes is solid. Totally free even for state. It's owned by Square so not sketchy. I’ve used it the last 2 years, no problems.

Used Cash App Taxes last year. Honestly? Shockingly good for a free option. No upsells, no bait-and-switch. Would recommend unless your taxes are super complicated.

Cash App Taxes is actually legit. Totally free federal and state. no upsells no fluff. Filed with them last year and had zero issues. Still kinda wild how it's totally free

TurboTax used to be my go to but they nickel and dime u to death now. Switched to FreeTaxUSA last year and it did everything I needed for like $15. Highly recommend if u don’t have anything crazy going on.
