TurboTax vs H&R Block: Which one is worth it?

I’m trying to decide between TurboTax and H&R Block for filing my taxes this year and would love input from people who’ve used one or both.
Which one is more accurate and better at maximizing deductions?, Is the customer support on either platform worth the extra cost?

I’ve used both and it really depends on your situation. TurboTax is super intuitive especially for W-2 filers. But if u have got investments or freelance income then H&R Block’s software or even their in-person service might save you more in the long run

I totally get being overwhelmed with tax software. Both have their quirks but H&R Block's customer support has saved me more than once when i had a mini breakdown over deductions

I totally get the stress. Taxes are confusing as hell and no software makes it truly easy. But between these two H&R Block has saved me more money in the past

I've used TurboTax for years. Honestly i love how easy it is to navigate, especially if you’ve filed taxes before. The step by step prompts make it pretty foolproof and i’ve always felt like i’ve gotten the maximum refund.

Honestly, if you’ve got a simple return, u could do either. But if u have investments or freelance income, i found H&R Block’s human review service to be worth the extra bucks.

H&R Block lets you file more complex returns for free than TurboTax does. TurboTax hits you with those “upgrade to unlock this” prompts constantly

I went with H&R Block this year and actually talked to a human. She even spotted a mistake from last year’s TurboTax return. totally worth it

If you're looking to maximize deductions, go with whoever lets you speak to a real human. TurboTax charges extra for that. H&R has storefronts where you can sit with someone, which helped me when i was panicking last April

I’ve used both in the last 5 years. TurboTax has a smoother interface IMO, but H&R Block tends to be cheaper for similar functionality. If u have itemized deductions or self employment income, H&R Block's deluxe version gets you more bang for your buck.

I used H&R Block last year and they actually found a student loan interest deduction that TurboTax missed the year before. Might’ve been user error, but i was impressed.

I switched to H&R Block after TurboTax charged me just to file a 1099. H&R let me do it for free. Not saying it’s perfect but definitely better for gig workers imo.

Switched to H&R Block last year and honestly liked it better. Felt more transparent. TurboTax always felt like it was upselling me every click of the way.

I've used both over the past few years. Honestly, H&R Block was better at walking me through my student loan interest deduction. TurboTax kinda nudged me toward upgrading for stuff H&R included for free. 🤷‍♂️

I've used both. TurboTax is more user-friendly IMO, especially if your taxes are pretty standard. But H&R Block tends to be cheaper and offers more upfront pricing transparency. If you're self-employed or have complex deductions, though, both will try to upsell u 🙃

TurboTax is great if u know what you're doing. H&R Block tends to hold your hand a bit more. If you're self-employed or have investments, i'd lean H&R Block.

I've used both. TurboTax is easier to navigate IMO but H&R Block actually caught a deduction TurboTax missed a couple years back. So now i lean Block. It’s like they think for u more 🤷‍♂️
