Hi everyone, Im in a bit of a bind with my credit score and need some advice. I had a large medical bill and applied for CareCredit to cover the cost. Unfortunately, my ex-partner, who initially promised to handle the bill, didn't follow through after our breakup. Due to lack of communication, I wasn't aware the debt went into collections. Portfolio Recovery Associates now hold the debt.I contacted them last night to try and resolve the situation and potentially improve my credit score. However, they informed me the debt has been transferred to their attorney, Rausch Sturm LLP.
If I contact Rausch Sturm LLP, will they be open to negotiating a lower settlement amount and a "pay for delete" agreement to remove the negative mark from my credit report? Is this a realistic possibility? Considering the transfer to the attorney's office, what's the best course of action for me at this point?
