Is Monarch Recovery Management legit?

My phone has been blowing up lately with calls from a company called Monarch Recovery Management. They claim I have an outstanding debt, but I honestly can't recall ever having any business with them.

Are they even legitimate? I haven't found much information about them online, and I don't want to risk giving out personal details to a potential scam operation. But it could be that since my name is fairly common, so maybe they're contacting the wrong person.

I don't want to ignore these calls, but I'm also hesitant to engage with them if they're not legitimate. Has anyone else had similar experiences with Monarch Recovery Management? Any advice on how to handle this situation would be greatly appreciated! Should I just ignore them, or is there a safe way to find out what's going on?

I've been living in Australia. Today, I received an email from USPS Informed delivery showing a letter sent to my friend's address in Ohio, where I used to live.

The letter was from Monarch recovery management, a company am hearing about for the first time. I looked them up because the address was unfamiliar. I’m unsure what debt this could be, as my U.S. credit card is paid off and my student loans are up to date.

I've dealt with MRM before. They are a legit debt collection agency but mistakes can happen. If u are unsure ask them to send u a validation letter with details about the debt. Legit agencies are required by law to provide this info and it will help u confirm if the debt is actually yours.

I had that experience! It turned out they were contacting me about a debt that wasn’t even mine. It was someone with a similar name. If you answer their call just don’t provide any private information.

Be cautious but don’t ignore them completely. Legitimate debt collectors are required by the fdcpa to provide debt validation if you request it.

If you’re not sure about their legitimacy, check the Consumer financial protection bureau’s site or the BBB to see if they’re registered and if there are any complaints against them.

Just always correspond in writing to maintain a clear record of all communications.
