I checked my credit report and found a collection account from LJ ross associates as i don’t remember having any past due bills that would be sent to collections. has anyone successfully removed them from their credit report?
Hi there,
It can definitely be frustrating to find a collection account on your credit report that you don’t recognize. Here are a few steps you can take to address this:
Verify the Debt: Start by requesting a debt validation letter from LJ Ross Associates. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), they are required to provide proof that the debt is yours. This will help you confirm whether the account is legitimate or potentially a mistake.
Check for Errors: Review the details of the collection account on your credit report. Look for inaccuracies, such as incorrect amounts, dates, or account information. If you find any errors, you can dispute them with the credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion
Under the (FDCPA), you have the right to ask LJ Ross Associates to validate the debt. Send them a written request asking for proof that the debt is yours and that they have the legal right to collect it. If they can't provide this, they must remove it.
