Enhanced Recovery Company on My Credit Report

So I was going through my credit report and saw a collection account from Enhanced Recovery Company (ERC) that totally caught me off guard. I’ve heard of them before, but this is the first time I’ve seen them show up on my report.

The weird part is I’m not even sure what the debt is for it’s pretty vague and doesn’t give much detail. I don’t want to ignore it and risk it getting worse but at the same time I don’t want to pay for something I’m not even sure I actually owe.

Has anyone here dealt with ERC before? Were you able to get them to verify the debt or maybe even remove it after settling? I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews—some people say they’re legit but super aggressive others say they’re hard to work with.

Been there. ERC showed up for a $94 debt from a Verizon account I closed in 2016. I disputed it through Experian and poof...gone in 3 weeks. Definitely dispute if u r unsure.

Honestly they're persistent but not unbeatable. Dispute in writing and don’t say anything on the phone if you call.
Everything in writing

If you’re planning to settle get the deal in writing first. I made that mistake and paid… then they didn’t remove it.
Had to dispute again

ERC is one of those agencies that’ll try every trick in the book. Block their numbers, send a debt validation letter, and document everything.

ERC put a collection on my report with no account number, no creditor just an amount. I disputed it with all 3 bureaus and it got deleted. You’d be surprised how often they don’t have the paperwork.

File a complaint with the CFPB if they can’t validate or if they harass you. That got ERC to back off me real quick.

I got them to delete after paying 50%. You just have to be very firm and get that in writing first. They’ll deny they agreed otherwise

They tried to collect on an account that was already charged off and sold to someone else. Like bruh who even owns this debt anymore?

Also remember that some states have better consumer protections. Like in California u can request detailed accounting. Check your state laws

Definitely ask for a debt validation letter. They’re required to send you proof it’s your debt if you ask within 30 days. Don’t just pay it blindly.

I settled with ERC last year for a Verizon bill I totally forgot about. Paid like 60% of what they said i owed. Got it marked as paid collection, not ideal but better than nothing.
