Credit Sweep Company

We’re trying to find a reliable and legitimate credit sweep company and could really use some guidance. If anyone has firsthand experience with a company they trust, I’d love to hear about it. Any recommendations or even warnings about who to avoid would be super helpful. Thanks in advance for sharing your input, it’s greatly appreciated!

I’ll start by saying this: there’s technically no such thing as a legitimate credit sweep company. Most of them advertise quick fixes like deleting everything in 30 days, but that’s usually just file disputes en masse with the bureaus. If you’re looking for something real, I’d recommend working with a credit repair lawyer instead, because sweeps can get shady fast.

Not to sound harsh, but credit sweeps are usually scams. The only sweep that’s legal is if your file was mixed with someone else’s or you’re a victim of identity theft. Anyone promising to wipe out collections, late payments, or charge-offs instantly is lying. Best case, they file disputes you can do yourself. Worst case, they commit fraud in your name.

To add on to what u/FinanceNerd said, I worked with Lexington Law for a bit. They weren’t perfect, but at least they were transparent about what they do (challenge inaccuracies, not magic). Sweeps promise miracles, and that should be a red flag right there.

If you’re looking for a quick fix, bad news: it doesn’t exist. Credit repair takes time........building positive history, lowering utilization, and removing inaccuracies. Sweeps are like diet pills. Looks good on Instagram, feels good for 10 minutes, but the damage later isn’t worth it.

I’m curious.....does anyone here know if sweeps are actually prosecuted? Like, is the FTC cracking down on them? Because I keep seeing them advertised on TikTok and I don’t get how these companies are still around.

Yes, they do get nailed sometimes. The FTC and CFPB have gone after multiple sweep companies in the last decade. A lot of them just rebrand under new names. That’s why you’ll see the same scams cycling through with slightly different logos. It’s like whack-a-mole.

One way to tell if it’s a scam: they ask for full payment upfront. Legitimate credit services usually bill monthly as work is completed. If someone says pay $2k and we’ll delete everything, that’s a scam, 100%.

I’ll be the odd one out here. I actually used a sweep company in 2019 after my divorce wrecked my credit. They got a bunch of stuff removed, but… 6 months later, most of it popped back on. It wasn’t permanent. So yeah, it worked, but not really. Waste of money in the long run.

Dude, these TikTok financial gurus really be out here selling sweeps like they’re the second coming of Christ. If it sounds too good to be true… it’s too good to be true. Build credit the boring way. It sucks, but it’s the only way.

What’s crazy is how many people fall for the CPN + sweep combo. That’s straight up fraud using a fake SSN. That can get you charged federally. Like, imagine thinking a credit card is worth a felony charge .

a legitimate path is disputing errors through the bureaus, negotiating pay-for-deletes, and adding positive tradelines. Credit sweeps are not recognized legally. If someone’s pushing one, walk away.

Some sweeps literally just freeze your credit reports and then file disputes hoping the creditors won’t respond in time. But creditors usually do. So you pay thousands for something you could do yourself, and it fails anyway.

I almost signed up for one, but my coworker told me about the CreditBoards forum. Best decision ever. Those guys break down how credit actually works. Learned to send goodwill letters and negotiate. Took me from 580 to 710 in a year without paying anyone.

Empathy moment: I get it. When you’re drowning in collections, you just want relief. The appeal of a sweep is strong because it sounds fast and painless. I’ve been there. But trust me, putting in the time to rebuild is better than losing even more money to scammers.

I had a family member who got caught up in one. The company used stolen police reports to claim identity theft and file disputes. That’s straight up illegal. She almost got charged because her name was on the documents. Please don’t mess with this stuff.

Some companies labeled as sweepers are just aggressive disputers. That isn’t necessarily illegal, but it’s misleading marketing. If they’re transparent and only challenge unverifiable items, that’s okay. Just be cautious about the language they use.

I get your point, but most people don’t know the difference. That’s why scammers thrive. They blur the line between disputing errors and promising illegal deletions.

instead of looking for a sweep company, find a legit credit coach. Someone who teaches you to manage credit long-term. Sweeps promise results, but coaching gives you skills. That’s what actually changes your financial life.
