I’m about to file my taxes online for the first time and want to make sure I choose the right service. My tax situation is pretty simple just regular W-2 income and a small side gig but I want something that’s user-friendly and won’t hit me with unexpected fees.

For those who have filed online before, what platform do you recommend? I’m looking for something reliable, affordable, and easy to navigate. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've filed online for a few years now, and for a simple W-2 with a small side gig, Cash App Taxes is completely free and pretty straightforward. If u want a more guided experience then TurboTax is super user-friendly, but they love sneaking in fees, so be careful. FreeTaxUSA is another solid budget option..federal is free and state is cheap. I went with TaxSlayer because i needed to file self-employment income. Super affordable compared to TurboTax and the interface is easy to use.
 
TaxSlayer is underrated. Its cheaper than TurboTax and does the same thing. If u want a no-frills, budget-friendly option, give it a shot
 
I recommend H&R Block online. Cleaner interface than TT in my opinion and cheaper if you have any self-employment stuff. You can even talk to a real person if you hit a wall.
 
I’ve tried both TurboTax and H&R Block, but I swear by TaxAct now. It’s super user-friendly, and they offer really good help if you get stuck. I had to file an amended return once and they walked me through it without extra charges.
 
Bro… don’t do TurboTax unless you like surprise fees and constant upgrade nags. It’s like trying to file taxes inside a used car dealership
