Any good experiences with Chicago credit repair?

I’m based in Chicago and looking into credit repair options. My credit isn’t terrible but there are a few things I’d like help cleaning up old collections, late payments, that kind of stuff. I’ve seen a ton of ads for credit repair services around the city but it’s hard to tell what’s legit and what’s just marketing hype.

Has anyone here actually worked with a Chicago-based credit repair company and had a good experience? I’m not expecting miracles but I’d love to hear if there’s someone out there who actually knows what they’re doing and follows the law.

I actually worked with Sky Credit Repair near Logan Square. Not gonna lie i was skeptical, but they helped me remove two old collections i couldn’t shake myself. Took a few months though

if any company tells you they can remove accurate info, run. That's illegal. Legit ones will help u navigate disputes and build good credit habits.

Yes i worked with Credit RX Chicago they’re based in Bronzeville. Took about 6 months, but they helped me settle some debts and got my score up 90 pts.

My cousin swears by Lexington Law but they’re national. Anyone got experience with LOCAL spots only?

Chicago Credit Solutions helped me file goodwill letters for late payments. Can’t say they were miracle workers but they were honest and never overpromised.

Sometimes it's just about knowing what to say to the bureaus. Even spelling errors in your name can lead to duplicate files. Worth checking.

Used Skyline Credit Repair off Belmont. Not miracle workers but they actually removed an old Comcast collection and walked me through disputing a late payment. Took about 3 months.

Half of these companies are just glorified dispute letter mills. You could literally do what they do using a free template online.

Honestly try Lexington Law only if you're desperate. They're not based in Chicago but they do have a reputation is mixed though. That said i used Dovly and handled it myself.

Before paying a credit repair service, pull your own reports from annualcreditreport.com. Highlight anything negative and research how to fix each item. Credit Karma is fine but it’s not the whole story.

Try Operation HOPE. They do FREE financial counseling and credit education. Located in Bronzeville. Not repair per se but they helped me clean up my report and negotiate old debts

Not from Chicago but fixed my credit from 520 to 740 using Self (credit-builder loan), a secured card, and paying stuff on time like my life depended on it
